New York Knicks center Camby walks off the court after their NBA basketball game against the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City

Report: Raptors looking to flip Marcus Camby to contender

Part of the trade that brings Andrea Bargnani to the Knicks — because an oft-injured three-point shooting big man who doesn’t rebound, is a poor defender and is owed $22 million over the next two years was a need in New York — flipped veteran big man Marcus Camby to the Raptors.

Toronto is who drafted Camby, but it’s not where he wants to play now — he wants to finish his career out on a contender. If not, he might just decide to walk away and retire.

The Raptors don’t want to get nothing for Camby, so trade options are being explored, reports Doug Smith at the Toronto Sun.

Camby, originally drafted by the Raptors in 1996, isn’t likely to ever suit up for Toronto; he wants to end a long career trying to win a championship.

Toronto sources say Ujiri does not yet have a landing spot for Camby but the Raptors GM does have more than a week to find a way to flip him for some other asset. Not doing so risks having to buy Camby out of the last guaranteed year of his contract and get nothing in return for the veteran centre.

The Raptors will be making other moves, also. Well, unless you think Dwane Casey can rind a rotation that could play DeMar DeRozan, Rudy Gay, Terrence Ross, Landry Fields, Steve Novak, Quentin Richardson and Linas Kleiza out on the wings during games. Good luck with that. So expect a couple more deals out of Toronto.

Report: Kings forward Matt Barnes wanted for questioning after alleged New York nightclub fight

Matt Barnes infamously fought then-Knicks coach Derek Fisher for dating Barnes’ estranged wife, Gloria Govan. Barnes even bragged that violence is sometimes the answer.

His self-earned reputation won’t earn him the benefit of the doubt over an incident earlier today.

TMZ:

Sacramento Kings star Matt Barnes is wanted by NYPD for questioning after he allegedly choked a woman inside a nightclub early Monday morning — and TMZ Sports got video of him right after the incident.

Law enforcement sources tell us cops got a 911 call to Avenue Nightclub after midnight, reporting a man assaulting 2 women and another man. We’re told things got physical when Barnes allegedly choked one woman during an argument — and when 2 other people tried to intervene … he punched both of them.

In the video, Matt and a teammate — it appears to be DeMarcus Cousins — are talking about the fight. The teammate is clearly heard saying, “Matt hit the s*** out this ni***!”

Barnes was also arrested for domestic violence against Govan in 2011. But she said the incident was blown out of proportion, and the charges were dropped.

The Kings have already played at the Knicks and Nets, so Sacramento doesn’t return to New York this season.
