Darrell Walker

Knicks assistant Darrell Walker to interview with Pistons

The Pistons have interviewed Nate McMillan, Mike Budenholzer, Lindsey Hunter and J.B. Bickerstaff, and Detroit isn’t slowing what has become a pretty wide-reaching search. Marc Stein of ESPN:

Sources say that Knicks assistant coach Darrell Walker will soon get an interview for the position vacated by Lawrence Frank.

Walker went 56-113 (.331) as a head coach with the Raptors and, as a mid-season replacement, the Wizards in 1999-00. He’s not exactly a hot candidate on the market.

The Knicks are obviously still playing in the playoffs, so it’s unclear when Walker would interview. It’s also unclear whether Phil Jackson influenced Walker’s candidacy, but this appears to be coming from the Joe Dumars side of the organization.

Walker served as a Pistons assistant coach under Michael Curry, whom Dumars hired, and then stayed on when Dumars hire John Kuester.

I’d still call Walker a longshot to become the Pistons’ next coach, but it’s unfair to blame him completely for his records with lousy Wizards and Raptors teams. Maybe, with a good interview, Walker gets another chance.

Still, he’s just one name in what’s becoming a crowded field.

Welcome to America, Fenerbahce Ulker.

The Turkish powerhouse was in America playing some exhibition games this preseason, and they got a first-hand reminder that Kevin Durant is back. KD had 13 points in the Thunder’s easy 111-81 win.

Not to be outdone, Russell Westbrook got in on the act.

Bradley Beal drives around, dunks over Kristaps Porzingis (VIDEO)

If you’re a Knicks fan, the positive is that at least Kristaps Porzingis tried to make a play.

But he was not going to stop the athletic Bradley Beal with a full head of steam, and the result was a Beal dunking over Porzingis as he tries to block the attempt.

Beal wasn’t sharp, scoring 12 points on 5-of-14 shooting. The Knicks has an efficient Carmelo Anthony and that got them the win.
