Fun video from the NBA marketing people tying Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis into the most famous television characters out of Milwaukee, Laverne and Shirley. For you young kids at home, “Laverne & Shirley” was one of the big spinoffs of “Happy Days.” And “Happy Days” gave us The Fonz and the phrase “jumped the shark.”
There is another NBA tie in here — Laverne was played by Penny Marshall (she’s got an Oscar for directing), who is a regular at Lakers and Clippers games. She’s a very nice person, although she did once cut me off at the soft-serve ice cream machine at Staples Center. But I’ve gotten over that. Mostly.
Report: Bulls close to deal with former Celtic R.J. Hunter
Hunter belongs in the league. Though he must knock down shots far more reliably than he has, Hunter has potential as an outside shooter with complementary ball skills to provide value. Boston just had more NBA-caliber players than roster spots.
He’s far from a lock to succeed in the NBA, but I value Hunter about as much as Tony Snell – whom the Bulls just traded for an upgrade at backup point guard in Michael Carter-Williams. That they could so cheaply replace Snell makes that deal look even better.
