Marcus Camby to start for Knicks as they go big vs. Spurs

San Antonio rolls into Madison Square Garden with one of the best front lines nobody is talking about. Well, people are talking about and know who Tim Duncan is because he’s been an efficient machine for 15 years, one of the greatest power forwards to ever play the game. But not a lot of people have noticed the Spurs have started Tiago Splitter next to him and the Brazilian big is playing some very smart, efficient basketball as well. Together they are a force.

To counter that, Knicks coach Mike Woodson is going big himself, starting Marcus Camby at power forward against the Spurs, next to Tyson Chandler at center, tweets Alan Hahn of MSG Network on twitter.

Carmelo Anthony has spent much of the season as the Knicks four, but for the last four games Woodson has started Kurt Thomas at the four spot. And the Knicks went 1-3. So now Camby will get his first start for the Knicks… well, his first one in 11 years since last time he was with the team, Hahn reminds us.

I’m not sure going big here is the long-term answer for the Knicks. Yes they miss Raymond Felton at the point and both their other backup point guards — Pablo Prigioni and Jason Kidd — are over age 35. But is a shuffled lineup with Thomas or Camby starting really the answer?

We’ll see if it is against the Spurs.

Against the Pacers last night, James Ennis missed all three of his 3-point attempts… that counted. And he makes this one after fouling out?

Mike Conley more than picked up the slack to lead the Grizzlies to victory.

The Pelicans are effectively out of the playoff race, but Dante Cunningham and Anthony Davis are still competing — even if it looks a little silly.

That tone and a big game from DeMarcus Cousins (29 points, 16 rebounds, six assists) led to a 121-118 win over the Mavericks.

Goran Dragic is very good at alley-oops.

Too good.

With a “shot” like that falling, the Heat trounced the Knicks, 105-88.

Hawks’ Tim Hardaway Jr. kneed in the groin while defending 76ers (video)

Since trading for him, the Hawks have gotten Tim Hardaway Jr. to buy in defensively.

After this help defense on 76ers center Richaun Holmes cost him dearly, I wouldn’t blame Hardaway if he gave up on the endeavor entirely.
