It looked pretty bad wben Austin Rivers sprained his right ankle. The one he had surgery on this past summer. So this is good news for the Hornets. And rookie Austin Rivers. And Doc Rivers. And fellow rookie Anthony Davis.
An MRI of Rivers’ ankle revealed no structural damage, the team announced Tuesday. That is also what an X-ray found the night before, but the Hornets weren’t taking any chances. (Don’t try this at home — both spraining your ankle and, if you do, trying to get your health insurance to give you an MRI on it to make sure everything is okay.)
Rivers is day-to-day. Where that leaves him for the Hornets opener next week is unclear but this is about the best outcome one can hope for with a sprained ankle.
