Denver Nuggets v Miami Heat

Heat’s Mario Chalmers MRI shows sprained knee, out 2 weeks

When teammates had to help him off the court Saturday night, it looked like it could be much worse.

So the news that Miami starting point guard Mario Chalmers will be out two weeks with a sprained knee, while not good, is not what many feared after he went down. Chalmers had an MRI Sunday that showed a sprain with no structural damage, the Associated Press reports.

Chalmers injured his knee during a non-contact play during the first quarter of the Heat’s win against the Nuggets Saturday. He had to be helped off the court by teammates and did not return to the game.

The Heat have 13 games remainng this season, two weeks would keep Chalmers out for six of them.

Mike Bibby is now the starting point guard for the Heat. They may consider bringing in free agent or D-League guards, because since trading Carlos Arroyo and now with Chalmers out Bibby is the only healthy point guard on the roster. However, there is not a lot of quality players out there to be had.
