Cole Aldrich, the No. 11 pick that anchored the Kansas Jayhawks last season, has been assigned to the Tulsa 66ers of the D-League.
It’s a smart move — Aldrich needs seasoning to become the defensive anchor in the middle the Thunder hope he can be for them. However, with Nenad Krstic and Serge Ibaka and Nick Collison there are just not a lot of minutes left. So far this season Aldrich has played just 48 total minutes spread over five games.
So he goes to the D-League, were he will get considerable more run and seasoning. He will get another chance with the Thunder, but it will be down the line.
The 66ers are a wholy-owned subsidiary of the Thunder.
NEW ORLEANS — Russell Westbrook hit 4-of-6 3-pointers in the third quarter.
This one apparently put him on fire to the point he had to cool himself off.
It’s hard to find a new low for defense in an NBA All-Star Game.
But Stephen Curry was laying down on defense. Literally.
The result was a Giannis Antetokounmpo dunk and Curry ending up in the highlight anyway.
Hey, DeAndre Jordan, where was this Saturday night during the Dunk Contest?
The Clippers’ big man threw down an off-the-backboard alley-oop from Russell Westbrook during the All-Star Game Sunday that was better than anything he did on Saturday night. Enjoy
NEW ORLEANS — Even in a game conducive to highlights, LeBron James went above and beyond.
